About the SINES DC Project
SINES DC is being developed across 6 buildings on a campus in Sines, Portugal, with a total planned capacity of 1.2 GW IT load — making it one of the most ambitious data center projects ever undertaken in Europe. The project is developed by Start Campus, a Portuguese company founded to create a world-class sustainable data center ecosystem.
The campus is strategically located in Sines due to its access to abundant renewable energy, existing industrial infrastructure, proximity to undersea cable landing stations, and seawater cooling capabilities. The SIN01 building (26 MW, operational since December 2024) was the first to be completed and won the European Data Center Project of the Year 2025 award.
The SIN02 building (495 MW) is the next major phase under development. Microsoft's partnership with Nscale to host 12,600 NVIDIA GB300 Blackwell Ultra GPUs at the site represents one of the largest AI infrastructure deployments in Europe.
