The Microsoft Høje-Taastrup (CPH02) Project
Microsoft's Høje-Taastrup data center (CPH02) is located on Bohus Boulevard in the suburban Copenhagen municipality of Høje-Taastrup. The facility is the third Microsoft data center project in Denmark, following Roskilde and Køge, and construction began in October 2022.
The campus is designed to deliver significant computing capacity for Microsoft Azure cloud services in the Danish market. A notable feature of this project is Microsoft's partnership with VEKS (Vestegnens Kraftvarmeselskab) to repurpose waste heat from the data center to warm approximately 6,000 local homes — one of the first such arrangements in Denmark.
The construction project involves multiple phases and requires a large, specialized workforce including civil engineers, electrical contractors, HVAC specialists, and data center fit-out teams.
Denmark's Growing Data Center Landscape
Denmark is rapidly emerging as a major European data center hub, with Taastrup at its center. Beyond the Microsoft CPH02 project, the Greater Copenhagen area hosts STACK Infrastructure's COP02 facility (48 MW) on Blekinge Boulevard in Taastrup, and Global Connect's Copenhagen Taastrup data center.
Microsoft is also planning to launch a full cloud region in Denmark in 2026, which will drive further construction activity. The Danish data center market was valued at over 600 MW in 2026 and is projected to reach nearly 1,000 MW by 2031, representing a CAGR of over 10%.
This sustained growth means ongoing demand for construction workers, electrical engineers, and project managers across multiple sites in the Copenhagen region. Accommodation procurement for large construction teams is a key logistical challenge for project managers and HR departments.
Accommodation Procurement for Data Center Construction Teams
Taastrup is located in Høje-Taastrup municipality, approximately 20 km west of central Copenhagen. The area is well-connected by the S-train (S-tog) network, making it easy to reach from central Copenhagen and surrounding suburbs.
For professionals working at the Microsoft CPH02 data center, accommodation in Taastrup, Roskilde (15 km), or central Copenhagen are all practical options. The Greater Copenhagen area has a large and diverse rental market, with furnished apartments and serviced accommodation widely available.
Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) is just 25 km away, making international travel convenient for project teams with multi-country responsibilities.
